I have played around with wood for 30+ years. I took up scrollsawing as a way to relax from my profession as a pharmacist. In the mid 1980's my wife started to do decorative painting, mainly on wood, so I ended up cutting the various shapes with a scrollsaw. In 1992 she opened her own craft store where she taught painting and, therefore, lots of pieces to cut. I also started to do some lathe work about that time. In 2004 she closed the store so I had more time to do lathe work. I still do some scrollsaw work but spend a lot more time at the lathe. I retired from pharmacy in 2005. I am a member of WAM (Woodturners Association of Manitoba), which I can proudly say is Papa Herm's club, and the AAW.
