Cantharus
Born in 1949, I live in a small village, in the middle of a pine forest and near the ocean in Bordeaux area.
Retired from computer science industry since 2010, I have discovered woodturning in 2005 and now devote most of my spare time to it. I work with local woods varieties like oak, chestnut, plane tree, alder, cherry and my favorite, holly.
My wood lathe, as most of my tools, is homemade. The lathe itself, is a very heavy tool that allows me to shape big pieces without any vibration.
Nature, with its woods wounded by the years, the aquatic life, the world of the infinitely small,
revisited by my vision, are the sources of my inspiration.
I like to awake the curiosity of the spectator and trigger interrogations at the first glance.
Forms, colors, textures, contrasts, are all ways to surprise.
