My name is John Tomaszewski and I live in Wells, Maine. I am a self-taught wood turner. I started lathe work about three years ago. I work with green wood, woods from my neighbor’s firewood pile, recycled lumber, and scraps from a furniture maker in the area. I haven’t tried to sell any turned pieces; I usually give my work away. I am always trying to turn different shapes allowing the wood to guide my way. So far I’ve used natural finishes attempting to bring out the beauty the wood has to offer. In October 2016 I took a class called turned and carved platters with Jim Christiansen and Ed Krumpe. The inspiration and guidance they provided me brought out talents I didn’t know I had. I look forward to any guidance, wisdom and feedback anyone provides.
