Bones 2

Been a long time since I posted work, and people keep asking me if I am still turning. Well, I am, but photography seems to elude me. Odd name for this 12" tall piece, you say. Well, here's how it came about. I liked the TV series, "Bones", primarily because of the quirky character of the lead role in the show. I noticed, in shots of her office, that there were interesting shapes in the background and I don't know if they were ceramic, wood, or just silhouettes pasted on glass. Anyway, I took a couple of pictures of the TV screen and hung the photos on a nail in the shop. The original "Bones" went to the gallery a couple of years ago and is long gone. This one languished under the bench, half done, for a couple of years. The bottom is one piece, as the top was parted off at an angle before I started to turn. The main body then hollowed to about 3mm, the foot hollowed from the bottom, the top rejoined and then turned last. The handles are steam bent walnut and pinned with tiny brass brads to the body. Bleached and finished with Krylon matte spray finish.
