I have four beautiful Granddaughters and they think there are elves in my wood shop. They ask to clean my shop but, they are looking for elves. I was born and raised in Loveland Colorado and moved to the great Northwest when I was in Junior high school. I served in the Navy Submarine Force for 20 years. My first projects were simple tables and kitchen hutches in wood shops offered in high school. I have been working with a wood medium and wood resin for 41 years thanks to many mentors. I must touch any wood I see in nature, a store or galleries. The feel of the wood in my hand tells me a lot about the wood. I have been an admirer of wood, and things made from wood throughout my life. There is something about the natural and organic nature of wood that fascinates me. Every tree is unique, and no two pieces of wood are the same. Like fingerprints from heaven, are the grain lines on a piece of wood. I took to woodturning as an art form because I think that turning wood on a lathe is the most spontaneous method of making something of wood. The lathe allows me much more freedom in shaping wood than any other hand tool. I am a proud and active member of the Mid-Columbia Wood Turners and the American Association of Wood Turners. I am also a fly fisherman and tie my own flies that are seen in some of my work. My wife I and own and operate River Hollow Creations LLC and enjoy the many people we get to meet and the creations we share.
