My wood turning journey started in early 2018 when I joined the Greytown Menz Shed located in South Wairarapa, the southeastern region of the North Island of New Zealand. I am currently studying the National Association of Wood Turning Certificate and am at the end of the third stage of four stages of study. My interests lay in conventional forms with an emphasis on embellishment. I am passionate about form and balance as I see so much work which is well executed but is lacking design. My interest in embellishment came from the work of Dixie Briggs who was a guest demonstrator at the NZ symposium in 2018. Other influences/mentors have been Eve Boon from Greytown - my first tutor who taught me to turn, Terry Scott from Auckland for his unending advice and countless consignments of equipment, Nick Crozier from Masterton for his ongoing advice and his current tutoring and Troy Grimwood for both his inspiration and more recent mentorship.
