Big leaf maple burl vase, 13" x 8" dyed. The goal here was to use as many colors of the ocean as I could get from dyes. Used three blues, black and yellow, none right out of the bottle, all mixed. On a dive trip to Grand Cayman two years ago, I met the famous marine artist, Guy Harvey. Since then I have worked with him and his staff to have an exhibition of his paintings at the Pensacola Museum of Art. The exhibition opened recently and I did this vase with his work in mind The real-life colors are more blue than my photos.
